Junie’s inspiring life and global work experiences bring a level of perspective that gets people saying, “I didn’t think about that”. Junie is Haitian-origin, Canadian born, Black woman, global citizen with 5 languages at the tip of her tongue.
With a BA in Community, Policy and Public Affairs from Concordia University in Montréal (Canada), and a MA in Public Policy and Management from Murdoch University in Perth (Australia), Junie has always believed that if you understand the systems in which you live in and how they dictate what you’ll benefit from or miss out on, then you can design and imagine endless solutions to your wildest dreams.
And, wild dreams she has lived, to say the least: ranked top 50 employees in banking in Canada at 23, liaised with public relations and media in India to raise awareness for mining workers’ rights and micro-businesses led by women in India, taught English to speakers of other languages in México and China, and co-designed health programs in remote and rural communities in the Northern Territory (Australia).
Now, she has broken into the tech industry as a non-tech by tapping into her entrepreneurial spirit to start seeing better representation in tech and with a wild goal to remove biases in the design of products and technology.

I speak about women in tech, inclusive products for consumers, representation of Black women in tech, entrepreneurship and how my migration journey fortified why I chose to jump into tech with zero technical background.
"Where are the Black Bill Gates?" is how my journey into tech began. But, when I read that an AI had an error rate of 35% in recognizing Serena Williams, Oprah Winfrey and Michelle Obama. I wasn't astonished. I understood that the lack of representation in tech is a real issue. My go-getter self and ability to always find the unpaved paths intriguing, went gung-ho to start a business in inclusive products with the aim to remove biases in tech in 5 years.

Growing up in two cultures, at home, my parents bathed me in my Haitian heritage, educated me on the history of Black communities and challenged me to dream my wildest dreams.
Anything was possible at home, at school and in my melting pot home city of Montréal.
A sense of adventure, travelled to off-the beaten tracks to find my way into entrepreneurship.
Everything in between it are the stories I have lived to tell the tale of courage, adversity, grit, leadership and living a meaningful life.

ABOUT JUNIE!
I am Junie Baptiste Poitevien, Haitian origin, Canadian born and a proud Montréalaise living abroad since 2012.
Founder of Propel Innovations, co-Author of Undefeated, 2 x Ironman70.3 finisher, I'm endlessley fueling my curiosity; whether it's my wild dream to remove biases in tech in 5 years or explore off-the-beaten tracks in the world, I live to tell the tale!
I speak 5 languages: French (Québécois), English (FrEnglish = French + English, when I speak with Montrealers), Kreyòl ayisien (Haitian creole with my dad telling me there's no "accent aigu" in Kreyòl), Spanish (Chilango (nickname for people from Mexico City who have a unique way of speaking Spanish) and Italian (need to brush up on that and not revert to Spanish (castellano, this time).
You're probably asking yourself, is there anything that she doesn't do?
Yes! I don't do bad vibes! But, I love energizing people into a positive vibe!
